Mercan Dede repeats the success of his previous album Su, which stayed at the number 1 position on the World Music Charts for two months, with his latest audio-travelogue, Breath.
Released in France by Naive in June, Breath sailed onto the World Music Charts this week and dropped its anchor in the number 1 spot! This news comes on the heels of the success of ‘La Tentation d’Istanbul’, the special program Mercan Dede created for the 38th Festival de Saint Denis in Paris, which resulted in a standing ovation for the performer by an audience of 1300 spectators.
While Breath is dropping into stores all over Europe this summer, Mercan Dede will be playing in cities in the East and the West with dates stretching from Denmark to Japan. Currently scheduled for the Prineos-Sur Festival on July 12th, Etnosur Festival on July 21st, Stimmen Festival on August 5th, Images of Middle East in Denmark August 15-18, Altstodtherost on September 1st, this time Mercan Dede’s journey does not end on the continent. In the first week of October, Mercan Dede will make his first trip to the far east to conquer the avant-garde affections of the Japanese concert-going public.
