Selim Sesler who, Hüsnü Şenlendirici not withstanding, is the top clarinettist in Turkey, full of Thracian Roma fire - his Road to Keşan disc (Traditional Crossroads) is a classic. But this, featuring wedding songs and dances from all over Anatolia, is a stormer too, as Sesler's clarinet soars and broods with a great band on violin, kanun (zither), oud, cümbüş (Turkish banjo) and bass, plus vocalists Brenna MacCrimmon and Ilkay Akkaya. The sort of band you dream for in an Istanbul restaurant, but never get.
